Just a gentle reminder, as the Waukesha Education Association Leadership beats their 'we see no reason to cooperate' drumbeat. A powerpoint presentation that explains how teachers are getting up to 78% increases in salaries.
"We're in a financial crisis and I, quite frankly, am sick and tired of gutting programs, so I'm going to look everywhere I can for every nickel I can to run the district more efficiently."-Frank Finman, Waukesha School Board who wanted to freeze salaries.
Once again, hats off to Frank Finman for voting against the salary increase for non-union employees for all the right reasons. A wet noodle to all the seated school board members who say they are conservative and don't vote that way.

Their Own Propaganda for their Own Agenda
Or in other words, Project ABC, WEAC and multiple other special interest groups are working together to raise school taxes by 32% (just under $3 Billion). Who cares which pocket it comes from. That's a heck of a lot of money.
P.S. Want to take a guess as to which side teacher on leave Mayor Larry Nelson is on?

The WTL supports the legislative reform that would allow school districts to switch insurance carriers outside of the arbitration process as long as the savings goes back into the classroom and programs not back into existing teacher salaries. The WTL asks Mayor Larry Nelson, County Executive Dan Vrakas, The Waukesha School Board, Project ABC, The Chamber of Commerce, the Editorial Board of the Waukesha Freeman and 23 other groups that co-hosted the educational forum to also sign on to preserve and rebuild our educational programs. Press Release is here.

|
|
|
|
Thursday, 12 April 2007 |
|
The newest edition of "the Myth of the 3.8% QEO" is now released. Once again, the study shows that the average salary increase per teacher exceeds 5%. This does not represent increases in health insurance, retirement contributions or any other benefit. Included in this study are private and public sector insurance comparisons and a breakdown of the $195 Million unfunded liability that the district has and just what the board can do about it.
Highlights from the Report:
- The average total compensation package for teachers was $82,720.
- Over 37% of teachers are maxed out at an annual base salary of $70,507 (not including benefits).
- A family plan health insurance package costs the taxpayers $21,147.36.
- The average increase between the 2005/06 and 2006/07 school years was 5.14%.
- $195 million in unfunded liabilities.
