Growing Waukesha County - 2006/10/19 07:22 This City of Waukesha and the School District of Waukesha are both feeling the pinch of new growth--the city has reached a point where it has outgrown some of its infrastructure and the School District is losing state aid due to declining enrollment and growing property values. The Town of Waukesha is losing its land base. Brookfield and Oconomowoc have grown substantially. Mukwonago is looking at an 85 cent tax to slow growth. Sussex is frustrated due to increasing development and property taxes. Waukesha County is experiencing a tremendous amount of growth. The WTL is encouraging healthy debate on growth and taxes, what is good and where should the line be drawn and what creative solutions could be used to slow down the demands on community services--schools, fire, police, water, etc.
